We are building cities in which we leave roofs lying fallow. Why? We will look beyond the horizon of current practice: biosolar roofs, where photovoltaics and greenery work together rather than competing; greening buildings we long ago wrote off; rainwater retained where it falls. Biodiversity as a measure of success, not just a buzzword. We’ll look at the obstacles, but above all beyond them, to see just how far the field of green roofs and façades can go in Czech cities.

Founder and managing director of GreenVille service s.r.o., a company specialising in the design, installation and maintenance of green roofs. Since 2019, he has been chairman of the Council of the Association of Green Roofs and Facades. He also serves as vice-president of the European Federation of Green Roofs and Facades (EFB), where he bridges Czech practice with European trends. He has long championed the vision of cities where greenery on buildings is the norm.
