Stefan Meier is a German landscape architect based in Ibiza. In his professional practice, he focuses on water management and on the design and construction of natural swimming pools and swimming ponds in the Mediterranean region. Since 2017, he has served as President of the International Organisation of Natural Bathing Waters (IOB). His work is grounded in the principles of nature-based solutions in landscape architecture, strengthening ecological functions and enhancing the overall quality of the designed spaces.
Stefan Meier will introduce the International Organisation of Natural Bathing Waters (IOB) and its “Common Essentials” concept, which summarises the key principles for the design and construction of high-quality, functional swimming ponds and natural swimming pools. He will also focus on the key criteria for plant selection that support system stability, water quality and biodiversity.
The lecture will include a case study on alternative sources of make-up water, offering practical solutions for regions facing water scarcity or reduced water quality.
