Pavel Jugas has been active in the field for more than 15 years. He is the managing director of Anima Horti, a company specialising in the design, construction and maintenance of gardens, swimming ponds and natural swimming pools. His work is based on respect for the site, the use of nature-based solutions, high-quality materials and modern technologies. He has been actively involved in the Association of Natural Swimming Pools and Ponds (ABAJ) for five years and is currently moving towards a role on the Association Council, where he aims to focus on improving quality and design and on bringing natural swimming closer to a wider public.
The Association of Natural Swimming Pools and Ponds (ABAJ) has been developing the sector in Czechia since 2008 and is one of the founding members of the International Organisation of Natural Bathing Waters (IOB). The Association focuses on education, knowledge sharing and the promotion of high-quality projects. In 2025, ABAJ updated its professional standards for the design, construction and operation of swimming ponds and natural swimming pools. This opening lecture will outline the Association’s strategic direction, present the updated standards, and introduce the key educational activities planned for 2026.
